All things considered, almonds are as close to perfect as a food can get. They contain lots of healthy fats,
fibre, protein, magnesium and vitamin E. They help lower blood sugar levels, reduced blood pressure and
lower cholesterol levels. They can also reduce hunger and promote weight loss. Just a handful of almonds -
approximately 1 ounce - contains one-eighth of a person’s daily protein needs. People with a nut allergy
should avoid almonds. Young children, some older people, and anyone who has difficulty swallowing
should avoid whole nuts, due to the risk of choking.
